Typical Residential Construction with Panels

BACK TO LIST
The step-by-step process of constructing a residence using SIPs.

Step 1: Wall Placement

Each fabricated panel has been specifically cut and modified so that it matches exactly with the architectural details and drawings.

The panels are fitted with all window and door openings, already framed and ready to accept the door and/or window.

All electrical chases have been pre-installed so that it is just a matter of minutes before the electrical wire can be simply pulled through the openings.

The panels are connected with approved fasteners and approved construction adhesive(s).

Step 2: Structural Elements

The panels are fabricated with all structural elements either within the panels themselves, or these elements are supplied for field installation.

Panels are all sized and marked so that the entire structure can be erected in a matter of a few hours or days. A crew is supplied to help with installation and is included in the overall price of the project.

Step 3: Interior Framing

All stick-framed interior walls are done either just before or during the installation of the panels, thereby speeding up the framing process by as much as 50%.

Interior walls are site-framed and connected to the exterior panels in an approved manner which is engineered into the overall system'.

Costly waste and scrap is virtually eliminated.

Step 4: Completion of First Level

All exterior panels, floor panels and interior walls are tied together structurally. Each panels is tied to the next panel with structural beams and/or posts, insuring that the project meets or exceeds all model building code requirements- earthquake resistant and highly damage resistant- a home that will out live any and all conventionally framed homes.

Step 5: Second Floor Framing

All panels are installed so that they will carry the maximum designated loads as confirmed by a licensed structural engineer.

Exterior elements such as porches as overhangs are easily framed to the existing structural panels. The panels are rot and water resistant, thereby insuring a tight and weather resistant structure..

Step 6: Framing Completed

During the framing and panel installation process, we insure that all structural elements are properly installed and connected per the structural and architectural plan.

Our years of experience guarantees that all materials and required hardware is on the job and installed per the plans.

Because we do not get paid "by the hour" our ability to shorten the building cycle by usually as much as 50% is not uncommon.

7: Final Check and Dry-In

Panel installation is generally about 60-90% faster than conventional framing and therefore the building cycle is dramatically shortened.

We insure that the building is weather-tite and ready for interior finishes at the end of our "shell" contract.

Construction costs are greatly reduced because of the shortened building cycle.
